The pumpkins you find on these pages were either done by Rich & Flo Newman (aka TagYerit) or sent in by friends & contributors. There are easily more than 10 pages by now, so give yourself plenty of time to explore the vast range of wonderful creations assembled here!
We're not traveler's but we have tasted gelato. Every year we've carved a pumpkin for our niece. Since she spent time in Venice last year, we decided that a gelateria would make a perfect setting for this year's pumpkin.
The
Deep Sea Diver combines 2 of our continuing themes in pumpkin design.
First is the pumpkin head man. And then there's the idea of designing around
the roundness of the pumpkin, which suggested a deep sea diver's bell helmet.
Of course this then led to the question of what would be the most interesting
thing for a pumpkin headed deep sea diver to discover ...
Dale Sullivan sent in these 2 pictures of the same pumpkin. We hope he carves
many more!!!
"The first pumpkin I've ever carved...period...lol and.not sure you can
post this...but I had no tools for carving...so I bent the under wire from a
bra - bent it in half to make a loop...then sharpened the edge...lol...kinda
crazy but it worked!" - Dale (Davenport Fl.)
Donald
R. Witt has been carving for the kids at "Boo! at the Akron Zoo" for
about 17 years. He invited us to post a few pictures from his website. There
were too many wonderful pumpkins to choose from. See more of his Don0O-Lanterns
at www.tpangels.com.
Once again Rick Chong along with the help of his daughter Ashleigh, carved a
slew of pumpkins as shown in his display. To see more detail and past years'
carvings visit the Rick's
Pumpkin Tips page.
Ultimately, THIS is what it's all about - getting down, getting slimy hands
cleaning out pumpkin guts and having a great time!!!
Sergio Santellan sent in these, including one priceless picture of his son,
the helper. He has also sent pictures in 2006
& 2007.
Hugh McMahon got a jump on the 2009 season by exhibiting photos of his past work @ the James Beard Foundation 167 West 12th St. NYC May 1 to June 30, 2009
New for 2009 - Denise decided on a spooky theme for Pennywise the clown. You can see more of her painted pumpkins at The Painted Pumpkin Gallery
Judy Summers sent in several pumpkins for this year -"GGGRRRalph",
"Popcorn Polly" and, "Play it again STAN, not Sam". You

Karen
paints pumpkins for the hospital where she works. Here's her Lollipop Kid. The
signs on the tree say, "Follow the Yellow Brick Road to recovery"
... "Lolly up to 3 West and get the pop out of your joints" ... "Do
your physical therapy and get a free lollipop". More of Karen's pumpkins
at the Painted Pumpkins

Caroline Goodrich (Tampa, FL) sent in these 3 pumpkins.
Pumpty's got a brand new rhyme ...
"Pumpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Pumpty Dumpty glared at us all
All the children with their costumes and wiles
Never got Humpty to even crack a smile
(No wonder he was pushed off that wall!)"
"For Pumpty, we used paper mache to create the egg shape and features,
then primed, sprayed, and painted. He was a hit. We installed him in a dark-themed
vignette outside the classroom."
She also sent in a jack-o-lantern carved pumpkin and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
- painted with added feathers and sequins. A saucy chick, for sure.
Keep going, there's so much to see!
