You got a gazing globe - In your yard

Lyrics:
Gazing Globe © 2006 Rich & Flo Newman (BMI)

You got a gazing globe - In your yard
You got a gazing globe - In your yard

You got a gazing globe - In your yard - Garden full of garlic
Staring deep in the convex scenes - Your whole world tinted scarlet
Can’t imagine how you managed to - Collect such fine perennials
Now you’ve got them grown in deep black tones and hybridize - You know you will.

(spoken)
It seems you’ve made their flower beds - In some form of ancient symbols
Are you waiting for someone who flies - Hip to this floral lingo?
But I got no wings - So I miss these things - You might be trying to tell us
But the frogs and birds - Understand your words - I’m left here kind of jealous.

You got a gazing globe - gazing globe
You got a gazing globe - gazing globe

By the elaborate labyrinth - Layed out in polished stones
There’s a sign in darkest marble says “Can one’s path be known?”

No matter where you enter - It’s so masterfully planned
Will I never reach the center - Though my mind’s convinced I can

All the while - It seems like miles - I’m mirrored in your vision
Your curiosity is piqued - Concerning my position.

The postal person’s dying to know - What’s with these odd shaped boxes
From places no-one can pronounce - Suspiciously she watches ... You

Receive your package silently - Unfazed by friendly banter
She’s retreating disappointedly - No closer to an answer.

You save your only smile - For the compost pile
You save that only smile - For the compost pile

When I leave your gate - It’s pretty late - But you’re still busy watching
And I give thanks too - For life forms who- [dodge patterns we get locked in](2x)

Distant neighbors wag their tongues - Wish you would whack your weeds
But you got big plans for potions - Herbal tricks right up your sleeve

Your spiky looking iron fence - Offends their sense of sameness
While you - You curse their chem lawn And cringe at this insane mess.

Your magical botanicals - Take focused concentration
The way you stare just so - I swear you see ‘em grow
Caring not how long it takes them

You got a gazing globe- a gazing globe
You got a gazing globe- a gazing globe

About the Song:
The Spooky Gardener ...
This song evolved from a visit to a friend's house. She's a master gardener and had some beautiful almost black flowers. - Like Nathaniel Hawthorne's "Rappaccini's Daughter", there's something going on here outside the norm. Growing herbs the world has never seen. Will there be cures, psychotropic experience ... Not unlike Morticia Addams' garden .. Something's not quite right - BUT that doesn't necessarily make it wrong either ... Is this an indictment of the experiment or the outside world too quick to judge?
