Chorus:
Charm school - send her
to charm school / They'll fill her all full of poise and
Charm school - elegant charm school/ That je ne sais quoi school - our
prayers are answered
Lyrics:
Charm School © 2006 Rich & Flo Newman (BMI)
Danger. Help me. This isn't fair / Gotta be a kids worst nightmare
Listening in on what it is my aunts say / It's obvious ................
dangerous
They say - she's really a mess - she needs an ounce of finesse
If she's to have any success - we think it would be best
Charm school - send her to charm school / They'll fill her all full
of poise and
Charm school - elegant charm school/ That je ne sais quoi school - our
prayers are answered
This tomboy don't feel so well / Seems like some axe just fell
And I know this talk's a trap / They're trying to throw my ass in
Charm school - elegant charm school / That "je ne sais quoi"
school
Their prayers are answered
As soon as I get my mother alone / My voice takes on a whining tone
How could you ever do this to me / I'll end up running from tree to
tree
So the other kids won't see / I'd never dare to let them know
You're the kind of mother that makes kids go (2x)
To Charm school - prissy ol' charm school / I'm major embarrassed
Rep ripped to shreds / I could feel her start to weaken / After a week
of pissing & moaning
Is it obvious that I never went to charm school
Each foot I place in my mouth - is an opportunity to move the other
one out.
Is it obvious that I never went to charm school - obvious - obvious
Listen Ma, you've taught me a lot - like never wipe my hands on the
dog
Excuse myself when my body makes noise / Don't haul off and belch the
alphabet at the boys
Charm school could do me great harm - you'll just waste your money
I'm your first born - I'd be irrevocably damaged / You'd end up paying
parades of bad shrinks.
Maybe if I'd listened to what my aunt's say / I'd be making a 6 figure
salary today
Posing with some brand new appliance / But no, I had to get all defiant
Is it obvious that I never went to charm school - obvious - obvious - obvious -obvious
spoken: Teacup balanced, pinkies up, bring to
your lips,
imperceptible sips, nod to your host, how kind of you.
Posture now. Don't cross those legs or slouch in that chair
Turn, smile, shoulders back, glide through the room
slightly pout then lightly laugh,
sparkle girls. Now own that room
Genre: rock, pop, easy listening, kids/family, swing bass, ac (adult contemporary)
Mood:upbeat, humorous
About the Song
Description: The plaintive cry of a tomboy being forced
to 'pretty up' "HELP! I'm being poisoned with poise".
The story of a kid desparately pleading with her mom to try to avoid
torturous hours in the dreaded Charm School which would also cut into
her precious playtime. Lots of humorous "kid faux-pas" thrown
in as well as some true-to-life whining. Many "charm school"
graduates were interviewed by the songwriters to create this angst-filled
anthem.
